suspend on Suse

The suspend function works perfectly.
Using Suse 10.0 64 bit
It works equally well with the old like with the new kernel.
The Suse graphic card drivers are mandatory, either Vesa/Mesa or the fglrx downloaded with yast. This last driver installs automatically.

- If using the downloaded fglrx:
/etc/X11/xorg,conf
Section "Device", don't change
Driver "radeon"
in "fglrx". You get still a 2D acceleration, but not the 3D, c'est la vie...

- Section "Monitor": make sure you have
Option "DPMS"

- And now the big secret, put in your boot loader this additional option as last one:
pci=noapci

Eventually, you will need to power down your external HDs before suspending or write an appropriate script putting it in /etc/acpi/events. You can also put there a script for automatic suspend by closing the lid.

have fun
