Kubuntu 6.10: no X11

The next release (testing).

Kubuntu 6.10: no X11

Was anybody successful in installing 6.10 on the notebook?

I just tried Kubuntu 6.10 and got only a black screen. Apparently with kdm running, but black. dpkg-reconfigure did not fix it...

No X?

I installed 6.10 -AMD686 and you are correct, kdm does not start up at first, that is because there is a certain device found that does not exist, you can just comment out the device in your /etc/X11/xorg.cf the only thing that does not work is my wireless, but I will get it working soon.

Could you be so kind to post your xorg.conf?

Also, if you get wlan working, it would be godd to know, how.

Thanks

Monitor Layout

Postby michaaa62 » Sun Dec 03, 2006 9:59 pm

Hallo,
mir hat das Hinzufügen der folgenden Option zur Device Sektion geholfen den Einblick zu erlangen:
Code: Select all
Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,Auto"

so daß der fragliche Abschnitt wie folgt aussieht:
Code: Select all

     Section "Device"
    Identifier                          "ATI Graphics Adapter"
    Driver                              "radeon"
              Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,Auto"

Ausserdem waren noch die folgenden Ergänzungen hilfreich:
Code: Select all
Option      "EnablePageFlip" "True"
Option      "ColorTiling" "True"

Hoffentlich war das auch wirklich alles, ist nämlich schon etwas her.
Viel Erfolg

Micha
